The most shocking finding during my testing was the gap between App Store ratings and real iOS performance. The casinos with the highest review count did not deliver the best experience. Some apps with far fewer reviews outperformed it on load speed, Face ID reliability and even Apple Pay integration, which was the most surprising. Ratings and outdated reviews are a problem in this category and you need to test on physical devices to assess which apps are worth playing.

When an App Store app earns its place
A native iOS app feels good when it loads faster than Safari and offers quick Face ID login and Apple Pay purchases. It can also send special push notifications for daily bonus alerts. Out of the seven platforms I tested, five had a better experience through the App Store app, compared to Safari’s mobile play. The main advantages were Face ID login and notifications, which work only on apps.
When Safari is good enough

Native apps loaded faster than Safari, but the gap was not as big as I thought. The average difference in my testing was under a second and for most players that doesn’t justify the download unless Face ID and push notifications are a priority.
Most iOS guides never mention the difference between an app and a Safari bookmark on your home screen. A Safari shortcut creates a separate icon that launches the site in Safari and behaves like an app for most purposes.

I used a Safari shortcut on two casinos during my testing, because they didn’t have a native app listing. The experience is almost identical and daily bonuses and Apple Pay purchases worked the same way. How it works on iOS casino apps
